About the Library |
The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh has provided library services since 1682. Many rare and unique items of scientific interest and historical importance are housed in the College, which regards its Collection as a national and international resource. |
Collection Highlights |
Collection 1: The College Collection contains 50,000 printed monographs on subject areas that include medicine, botany, science and travel, including twenty-two incunabula, and 700 pre-1600 imprints. Medical classics in the Collection include the first edition of Harvey's De motu cordis (1628). Among the special named collections are the Sibbald (early medicine and natural history) the Simpson (obstetrics) and the Kinnear Wilson (neurology).
